Full casting announced for Jacobi-led Heartbreak HouseDate: 15 June 2012 Full casting has been announced for Chichester Festival Theatre's forthcoming revival of George Bernard Shaw's Heartbreak House, which, as previously announced, stars Olivier Award-winner Derek Jacobi. The production, which will be directed by Richard Clifford, runs from 6 July to 25 August. Jacobi will take on the role of Captain Shotover in the tragi-comic social drama, with Emma Fielding as his daughter, Hesione Hushabye, and Ronald Pickup (as Mazzini Dunn), George Layton (as Billy Dunn) and Jo Stone-Fewings (as Randall Utterwood) among their guests at a dinner party at the titular Heartbreak House. Set on the eve of the First World War, the play was first performed in 1920.
Jacobi, seen on stage most recently in Michael Grandage's King Lear at the Donmar Warehouse in 2011, has performed at Chichester many times during his long career. He first appeared at the theatre in a 1963 production of another Shaw play, Saint Joan. The cast of Heartbreak House also includes Fiona Button, Raymond Coulthard, Sara Stewart, Trevor Cooper and Maroussia Frank. Set design is by Stephen Brimson Lewis, lighting design is by Peter Mumford and the production will feature music by Jason Carr.
