Xmas Soiree Planned for Roundhouse, 23 Nov

Date: 8 February 2011

Three weeks before La Soiree ends its run at the specially erected South Bank Big Top, the variety and circus show have announced they will return to the Roundhouse for a limited Christmas season from 23 November 2011 to 29 January 2012.

Following their extended five-month run in a mirror tent behind the National Theatre, which saw the show open on 21 October 2010 (previews from 12 October), the production now finishes with a 'Last Hurrah' performance on 27 February 2011. That show will include a guest performance from cabaret diva and star of the upcoming The Umbrellas of Cherbourg Meow Meow as well as other "special guests".

Having previously appeared in London as La Clique, the troupe containing Scandinavian contortionist Captain Frodo, “bath boy” David O’Mer, strongmen duo The English Gents and Miss Behave won the 2009 Olivier Award for Best Entertainment following their run at the London Hippodrome. The show subsequently played Camden's Roundhouse for a nine-week Christmas season to 17 January 2010.

Offering a mixture of cabaret, new burlesque, circus sideshow and contemporary variety, the company has performed seasons around the world including Sydney, Melbourne, Montreal, Dublin and New York in addition to regular summer stints at the Edinburgh Fringe.

La Clique made its London debut at the London Hippodrome on 10 October 2008 (previews from 2 October), initially due to run for just four months and eventually extending until 27 June 2009, when it closed ahead of the venue’s redevelopment as a casino complex. La Soiree is presented in London by Brett Haylock, Mark Rubinstein and Mick Perrin for Just for Laughs Live.
