Peters Stars in Five Guys Revival at Edinburgh
Date: 12 May 2010

The Wire's Clarke Peters will star in a 20th anniversary revival of his Olivier Award-winning musical Five Guys Named Moe at this year's Edinburgh Fringe Festival.

Running at the McEwan Hall on Underbelly's Pasture from 4 to 29 August 2010, the revival will be directed by Paulette Randall, with choreography by Peters' fellow original cast member and Olivier nominee Paul J Medford.

The musical, which originated at Theatre Royal Stratford East before becoming a long-running hit in the West End and on Broadway, follows broke and newly single Nomax (Peters) as Five Guys Named Moe (Big Moe, Four-Eyed Moe, Eat Moe, No Moe, and Little Moe) emerge from his 1930s-style radio in an attempt to cajole and comfort him. The music comes courtesy of jazz legend Louis Jordan, with hits including "Early In The Morning", "Choo, Choo, Ch'Boogie" and "Saturday Night Fish Fry".

Peters, whose other credits include Trevor Nunn's 2006 West End production of Porgy and Bess, said: “I am over the moon that twenty years on Five Guys still has the power to excite people with expectation. There are fond memories for those who 'partayed' with us before and joyful curiosity for those who didn't. I don't think they will be disappointed.  To be taking it to Edinburgh is an added bonus as so many people around the world will be exposed to this show."

Five Guys Named Moe is produced by Underbelly Productions and Theatre Royal Stratford East, by arrangement with Cameron Mackintosh Ltd.

That's lovely news. I saw the original productions both at the Theatre Royal Stratford & The Lryic Theatre. I hope they bring it to the West End with Clarke Peters reprising his role - Peter Thomas
