Phil Daniels to star in new Rose Theatre season

The new season for the Rose Theatre in Kingston has been announced.
Phil Daniels is to star in David Edgar's adaptation of Dr Jekyll & Mr Hyde, a co-production with the Touring Consortium Theatre Company. The show will run 9 to 17 February 2018 before heading out on tour. Daniels will play Jekyll and Hyde, the eponymous characters who are the good and evil manifestations of one man. Simon Godwin directs the show.
The theatre's season kicks off with the already announced production of Tom Stoppard's The Real Thing starring Laurence Fox. The show will be directed by Stephen Unwin.
After the September run of The Real Thing the theatre will host Godwin's production of Rules for Living, written by Sam Holcroft. The piece originally opened at the National Theatre in 2015 and is set on Christmas day as a family gathers for dinner. The show runs from 7 to 18 November.
Following Dr Jekyll & Mr Hyde Stephen Bill's play Curtains will be staged by Lindsay Posner between 22 February and 17 March 2018. Curtains is set at a birthday party for the 86 year-old Ida.
Family shows include The Night Pirates by Peter Harris and Deborah Allwright and the Christmas show Alice in Winterland adapted from Lewis Carroll's novel Alice in Wonderland.
In March 2018 the theatre will also stage a new co-production with the Curve of George's Marvellous Medicine adapted by David Wood. The director is yet to be confirmed and the production will run from 27 May to 8 April.
