Audra McDonald: 'The world treated Billie Holiday horribly'

The American actress is soon to star in ”Lady Day at Emerson’s Bar and Grill” in the West End

We caught up with six-time Tony Award-winner Audra McDonald as she launched Lady Day at Emerson's Bar and Grill, which opens at Wyndham's Theatre in June.

McDonald will make her West End debut with the show, which is set during one of Billie Holiday's final concerts at a run-down bar in Philadelphia. She previously postponed her appearance after it was announced that she was expecting a baby with husband Will Swenson.

Lady Day at Emerson's Bar and Grill runs at Wyndham's Theatre from 27 June to 9 September, with previews from 17 June.
