I'll Start.

The best was either WWRY or Evita on tour both were absolutely amazing

Worst is a toss up between the donwright awful presentation of West Side Story, or the clumsy production of Little Shop Of Horrors.

If we are talking West End/tours
Spring Awakening or Twelfth Night
Worst would be: We will rock you (i don't care for Jukebox)
Off West End
Best: Hamlet RSC
Worst: A production of Romeo and Juliet in Cardiff or Into the Woods in London (They tried but the projector screen didn't work).

Are we just talking musicals? Then my best and worst this year is simultaneously Too Close to the Sun. The first act was dire beyond imagining with no redeeming features (alas, I did not go on Tablegate Night sad.gif ). The second act was like they looked back at what they had, realised there was no way they could improve it, so went all out and made it a hilarious experience. I've laughed a lot at the theatre this year (as an obsessively quiet little audience member, that really means something!), and at least half of it was act two of Too Close to the Sun. :3

Or if you want a real answer, I suppose I enjoyed Spring Awakening a whole bunch and am sad it didn't last longer. tongue.gif When did La Cage actually hit the West End? I've loved it every time I've seen it this year, but am trying to keep my choices to things that actually opened this year.

Hey, it's only the start of October - I've got heaps of theatre going still to do this year. I live in eternal optimism that the thing I see next will be the best thing I see all year.

(Touring)
Best - West Side Story (amazing polished performance, worth every penny)
Worst - Joseph (cut backs beyond imagination, songs missing, bum notes, shortened finale, coat no.2 (the one were they pull the ribbons not performed, no encore - very poor sloppy matinee version at FULL PRICE, waste of money and not as popular as it once was it appeared)

(West End)
Best - Hairspray
Worst - haven't seen anything that was so bad!

I've not seen a bad show. I've seen things I haven't enjoyed but that's just taste, nott cast or production or anything like that.

Best most definitely Spring Awakening and Austentatious. Both are right up there in my top 5 favourites.

Worst

Night Music. Seriously I really didn’t get the hype
Too close to the Sun was stinking. But so bad I loved it, a benchmark show …
Carousel also had some really bad moments

Best

Forbidden Broadway & La Cage (Allam and Quast the best pairing so far

Have tickets for but unsure about

Legally Blonde

Can’t wait for

Sweet Charity, Annie get your Four Pianos & Enchanted Pig.

Must book

Sister Act.

Best - RUG's Joseph at The Adelphi.

Worst - Kenwright's Joseph UK Tour.

Astonishing the difference with which the same piece can be staged.
