Messaging performers on facebook... Totally stalkerish and creepy, or ok if you're sensible and non-fangirly about it?! laugh.gif It's definately better than 'adding' them as a friend, but still... too much?

My reason is this: I really like one of the Wicked swings and miss her on stage! I want to know if she knows when she might be on next. I would have asked her today at SD but she wasn't actually there.

This has cropped up in discussion before but damned if I can remember which thread. XD The consensus seemed to be that if you are respectful and polite, there's nothing wrong with it. After all, it is a social networking site. The worst that can realistically happen is they just won't reply to your message. If you're comfortable with it, and capable of keeping to boundaries, then go ahead. smile.gif

Think it was in the fanmail discussion. I don't see much of a problem with asking them questions. If they are on facebook and haven't made their profiles completely private then they can't really complain. As has been said the worst they can do is just ignore you.

Yes dear, we now get by your numerous name dropping posts etc that you are indeed friendly with a few performers. You can stop now. rolleyes.gif

Mr/Mrs Bored - go find something to do. The previous post is in line with the original enquiry and par for the course on an enthusiastic theatre site.

Messaging them is OK, but some don't like to reply because it gives you access, even if minimal, to their profile. It just depends on the person really smile.gif

i actually sent a message to a cast member of a show enquiring as to whether they were performing on a certain date. I just simply said that i hoped they didn't mind me contacting them like this, they were totally free to ignore the msg. they replied with a lovely message and answered my question. and that was the end of our contact! i think there is absolutely nothing wrong about contacting them if they haven't made any effort to hide their identity and you contact them in a nice polite manner and don't expect anything more to come of it.
