Anyone seen this?

I was recently in NY and decided not to see it. From the people I spoke to it was over produced and not very good with a poor score and lyrics

Anyone think differently?

Saw this when we was in new york recently, only went as we had a free night and a $25 doller offer from the local paper. It wasn't as bad as expecting it to be but had a few good moments. Its not worth paying full price to see. Lots of better things to see on broadway.

There's a story in the NY Post about the shows checkered past. Apparently it was savaged in its Chicago tryout, but has been re-worked by Richard Maltby, Jr. and Graciela Daniele and money has been thrown at the production. It looks pretty lush from the pics on the website.

I saw the show, and didn't think it was as bad as the critics seemed to think it was. It was beautiful, with an outstanding cast. Some of the music stayed in my head for days after seeing the show. I very much enjoyed it and was planning to see it again in August when I was next going to be in NY. I was very sorry to read they had posted closing notice for June 17.

As for the NY Post Article -- Michael Reidel is well-known for being somewhat nasty. I generally don't read his stuff, but on the odd occasion when I do, I tend to take it with a grain of salt.
