In the world of opera there a lot of co productions. But I don’t really notice that many in straight theatre. Or am I wrong?
I guess it may be hard for a production to be shared with the something in the Olivier but for more conventional houses then I don’t really see a problem.
There are quite a lot actually - Rupert Goold "Enron" is the most recent, and several of his previous productions too. There are a few more in opera because it can cross national boundaries, but some theatre pieces are produced in exactly that way too (eg. Deborah Waner "Julius Caesar"). A lot of recent NT productions were co-productions too, with "fringe" groups.
