As there is now a 48 hour tube strike does anybody know if theatres are likely to cancel performances? I have tickets for Wicked tomorrow night and am hoping it's still on.

I'm going somewhere on Thursday night and am crossing fingers for no cancellations, but wonder how empty the theatre will be if people can't get places - though I suppose most of the West End tourists are staying in the centre so can walk there?

They've laid on over a hundred extra buses, and staff at tube stations are primed to give people walking directions and bus information. It's going to be a bit of a nuisance, but should be all right for the West End. People who are coming from far afield will probably be getting National Rail trains in rather than Tube ones, and once you're in town, buses are easy.

Still means that the roads will be very congested. I know someone who took 2 hours to travel 9 miles! It's not actually the tourists etc going to shows that will be the problem, but actually getting casts into the theatres. They tend to live on the outskirts and need the tubes.

If my journey to work this morning is anything to go by, a lot of those extra buses seem to be going to "Sorry not in service" grrrr.
I am planning to leave work early to get to the Opera House this evening for 6.30 and am predicting that I am going to have to walk for at least half the journey, and probably have to do the same tomorrow to get to La Cage. Don't these people know we have shows to get to!!!!

Also, add to the mix aprox. 80,000 England fans trying to get to Wembley tonight and it will be all kinds of fun!

Especially as they've decided not to send overground trains to wembley after 6.

That's why they stopped selling tickets for the match, when they knew the strike was likely! There won't be that many there.

And then getting them home late at night, when all the world and his wife are looking for cabs.
