In the Heights or Hair. Those are what I'd choose to see anyway. Without having any real knowledge of what you and your friends are into, have already seen, or are interested in seeing, I'm afraid I can't get more specific. smile.gif

Altar Boyz is great - completely hilarious and very energetic - and the first off-Broadway to recoup its investment, I believe. It's at the New World Stages and is pretty cheap to boot.

After recently going Myself

Without a doubt In The Heights or Guys and Dolls for Musicals or Reasons to be Pretty for a play!

All on TKTS!

Totally agree. Just returned from a holiday in NYC and went to see Altar Boyz. Haven't laughed so hard in a long time. Brilliant show! smile.gif

After the Tonys, it would be a crime not to go and see Next To Normal, it looked sensational!

Definitely Next To Normal. I ended up seeing it twice when I was out there. Haven't seen Altar Boyz yet but only heard good stuff about it for a fun night out.

We are going to New York in October and are thinking of seeing Next to Normal, In the Heights, Hair and Shrek (Little Mermaid and 9 to 5 having announced closure after we booked our trip!) Hopefully those are good shows.

We might have time for one other show and I was thinking of something a little more 'off the beaten track' and wondered whether anyone had any opinions or thoughts on Bye Bye Birdie, Finian's Rainbow, Altar Boyz, The Fantasticks or After Miss Julie (for a straight play).

Or indeed if anyone can think of anything else they think we should see whilst over there please let me know!

Definetly see Next To Normal, it's amazing. I wasn't a very big fan of Altar Boyz - I thought after the first 10 mins I got sick of the same joke - The Toxic Avenger was a better off-broadway show I thought (its at New Worlds Theatre as well as Altar Boyz). I found Bye Bye Birdie really really fun. Shrek was ok as well, but don't make the same mistake I did and book in advance. There's half price tickets at TXTS every day for the show
