I will never forgive myself for failing to see the original cast of the History Boys in action.

How about you?

Since I became a theatre-goer, I've managed to catch most things I've wanted to see, apart from Coram Boy. I've also missed out on Oedipus and Burnt by the Sun at the National, but Coram Boy is the one that really tears me up inside. I've read the book, the playtext, heard it on the radio, but I wanted to see it on STAGE dammit!

(I'm disregarding things I missed before I became a regular theatre-goer, else we'll be here all day. ;D)

I regret missing so many things that were on before I was born or before I started theatregoing but if I limit it to things I could have actually gone to then probably my biggest regret is not seeing the 2006 Evita revival - it clashed with my last year at uni so I was going to go & see it after I'd finished but then it went & closed during my Finals.

I regret only going to see Imagine This on the last night- I would have gone more times.

Like Weez there are so many " classics" I missed before I lived near enough to London, or had enough money to go, or was able to leave the kids eg Cats, Evita, etc
but in recent years I am sorry to have missed The Producers.
I know I could be a lion tamer,
I've always gotten along with cats

then things like cats and chitty wasnt really much of a theatre goer back when they were on though

Ditto. That's my only theatre related regret.

Ahh there could be so many

I wish I'd got to see Piaf either at Donmar or Vaudeville but was away sad.gif Elena Rogers is amazing and after seeing her in Evita really badly wanted to see her in this!

Tick tick boom and last 5 years (this time and originally)

Company at Donmar (1990 something when I was still too young to go London on my own)

And like other people have said some shows when they first opened - Chess, JCSS, Rent

If we're thinking about future as well Im going this year so gutted I will be missing Legally Blonde/Phantom 2 -though hopefully they will still be open wen I get back!!!

As I live away from London, there are many shows I don't get to see but the ones I regret missing are the fast-booking ones like the National Theatre and Donmar productions; they're usually sold out by the time I'm planning to go down to London. Ones that stick in my mind are NT original History Boys cast, Othello at Donmar and, further back, Proof with Gwyneth Paltrow and Blue Room with Nicole Kidman etc... There's something quite captivating about seeing big acting stars in the intimate Donmar. As meerkat says, I too went to see one of the final Imagine This shows and would truly like to see it again. Alas, it was the end of the run and could not go again. Though I did email the official website and there might be a DVD, provided they can sort the rights out or something along those lines.

I've kicked myself many times for missing Anything Goes - I wasn't a regular theatre-goer at the time, but would do the odd trip in with friends while I was at university. We could easily have picked that to see instead of Joseph, or Starlight Express, but I wasn't aware enough at the time for it to have crossed my radar, and we were only going to see shows we'd heard of! I now have the cast recording, and love it.

Another one I missed was Sean Bean in Macbeth - unfortunately one of group had already seen it, so it was vetoed. I can't even remember what we saw instead - if only I hadn't have been too much of a chicken to see it by myself (oh, alright, and too poor).

I was kicking myself for missing Oklahoma at the National, but I recently rented the DVD, and apart from Hugh Jackman in the first five minutes I found it rather tedious, so I'm regretting it less now.
