OK, I thought that instead of highjacking the Carousel thread, I'd start a new topic.
I went to see Carousel again tonight and well, I just think that Al Silber is just getting better and better. Her what's the use of wondering had me in tears and the raw emotion she displays throughout the show.
She was also fabulous Hodel in Fiddler on theroof and amazing as Laura in Woman in White. I look forward to seeing her- and Carousel- again soon!

Can I also point out too any other fns that there is an official Al Silber group on facebook so please join using the link below!

Alex Silber is getting such amazing reviews. She's going to be a huge star and deservedly so! Is she American originally? I get confused, because my only concern is why she is getting so many lead roles over here at the moment rather than on Broadway? But apologies if I got that completley wrong

I would love to see her as Christine in Phantom of the Opera.

Yes she's american, but she trained at RSAMD and was cast in Woman in White while still there and has been working here since although she would love to go to broadway one day!

Saw her on Saturday and I love her performance.

"Alexandra Silber more than confirms the promise she showed on this same stage a season or two ago as Hodel in "Fiddler on the Roof." An American now resident in London, Silber has a creamy soprano that puts one in mind of Broadway's Audra McDonald. Her dark, burnished looks convey the very reserves attributed to Julie that, presumably, will help see this bereaved mother through an early widowhood. In a city lacking genuine musical stars, Silber by rights is poised to be one." -- Matt Wolf for The International herald tribune

Saw Carousel last night and what a spectacular talent Alexandra Silber is - haven't seen her before I don't think but she has such a beautiful strong Soprano - it is just unlike anything else in the West End at the moment. Her acting is also wonderful - perfect for the role. I hope this girl goes on to even greater things - she definitely deserves it.
