Went to see Alvaro's Balcony ar the Landor. At last a terrific new quality musical - a wonderful vehicle for the delightfully talented Helen Anker and the brilliant Judith Paris! Not only can Norman Bowman sing, but he looks good in a towel too. If you haven't seen it, GO!

Just back from this tonight - a few technical issues to deal with, but Valerie Cutko gives her all as usual - a statuesque performance if ever there was one! Act 1 long, but a fab performance from Helen Anker... the chemistry between her and Norman Bowman is electric! And the towel scene... tongue.gif

I really enjoyed the production - went to the press night last night. What a powerful story, and love the music. Does anyone know if you can order a cast recording (I realise it's early days, but I don't mind waiting...)

And yes, Norman in a towel!!!!!!

Thanks for posting, all:
I'm very much looking forward to seeing this -
especially as Norman (as well as always looking good!) always sings beautifully.

It's been reviewed on the Off-West End microsite, you know. You can find it via the Whatsonstage homepage.

Hmm - the review's quite good, but I'm really surprised they don't give Jonathan Kaldor credit. He is the composer and the lyricist. I really enjoyed the music (as I've said) and the lyrics were extremely well written.

I hope it'll be another great new musical hit for the lovely Landor.

The Stage Review (by Paul Vale) of Alvaro’s Balcony especially praises:
QUOTE
the production itself, which was possibly of the highest standard this reviewer has seen on the London fringe in ten years.
