In Pobitch weekly email this week it talks about Gethin Jones and his rehearsals to take over the lead in Jospeph.

Have I missed something and this is old news? If so apologies.

Blimey - its news to me! When I first read it I must admit to exclaiming NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! but that might be due to the fact that I don't rate Gethin Jones very highly as a presenter. I suppose, if this is true - seems a bit out of left field to me - then he deserves a chance to prove himself. Philip Scofield did okay in it.

Hmmm.... interesting.

I did, in fact, see Gethin on the step outside the Adelphi last week chatting to someone. I wonder if this adds weight to this claim, or if PopBitch just happened to have been on The Strand at a similar time and put 2 and 2 together and got 35!

On Popbitch the story was not that he was getting the lead, more that he is currently in rehearsals and simply wasn't that good.

He certainly has the body for a loincloth.

Didn't stop Lee Mead getting the part! At least Gethin is good looking. IMHO

He admits himself that he hasn't got a good voice - he's a good dancer though.

Popbitch doesn't always get it right.

I am a Gethin Jones fan but I really hope this isn't true. I want him to be on television - as much as possible!

He has a new television programme coming up on 28 September for six episodes - Gethin Jones' Danger Hunters. It is on Virgin 1 - Freeview Channel 20.

Marian Clune, Lee has a great voice and is gorgeous! I don't know what you mean.

Yes that's your opinion rolleyes.gif
I know of many people who have seen and enjoyed his performance. He was fantastic at the Andrew Lloyd Webber's concert and is brill in Joseph in my honest opinion. wink.gif

Baz Bamigboye has mentioned it today too! And WOS has run with it as well!

But Gethin jones can't sing. He was on the original "Any Dream Will Do", doing a thing for Blue Peter. And they were very "nice" and complimentary to him, as I recall, but he was awful!

But the supposed cast quote about having been flat enough for canals isn't something that was likely to have been made up. Lol! But isnt it a bit too soon for him to have been supposedly rehearsing at the theatre, presumably with the cast, unless it was either just an audition or they are wanting him to get it together in a hurry in order to cover Lee Mead's next holiday as well?

I would love to see a great West End revival of JCS, ideally with Steve Balsamo again. But I would run off to see a tour as well and the prospect of Lee Mead doesn't grate. I think it would probably have to be more as Michael Ball sings it, assuming Jesus, but wouldn't mind hearing what he could do with it. Or is it that Daniel Boys has been singing "Gethsemane" recently indicative of something else? I am much less happy with the concept of some "Any Dream Will Do" or other casting show collective thing happening (Jessie Buckley with "I don't know how to love him" in the park??). JCS to be cast like the Joseph tour would turn my stomach. I hope that isn't what it would be, but I would probably still actually go to see it regardless. If it happens, I can't imagine it would be a long tour though. And if intended to transfer, where would it be supposed to go? The only possibility might be as a fill in before the Phantom sequel.
