I recently purchased a rather interesting CD by lyricist Dee Shipman. I was familiar with Shipman's lyrics for the incredible musical 'Lautrec' back in 2000 (Charles Aznavour wrote the music) and thought the track list looked quite interesting.
Shipman's voice isn't power house but is pleasant none the less and she acts out the songs incredibly well. The two best tracks are her offerings from 'On A Clear Day You Can See Forever' - 'Love With All The Trimmings' and 'What Did I Have I Don't Have Now'. Shipman could have had a really good career as a musical theatre actress based on the quality of this album. The record was produced by Norman Newell and has orchestrations by Roger Webb.
Now the bonus track is really interesting! The song is from a new musical Dee wrote with Roger based on Emma Hamilton. The song is sung by Dee and Sadie Nine and its called 'She Isn't Me' - kind of like 'I Know Him So Well'.
Anyway here is the link to read more and hear some sound clips...
