Delighted to see that 'Street Scene' is being revived in the UK after all these years. I have never seen it - although I was at a RAH Prom when they presented a concert version and I was captivated. I have booked for the first night at the Watford Palace before it transfers to the Young Vic. Really looking forward. Meanwhile have ordered the DVD to do my homework!!!

Did anyone get to see it in Watford last week. Obviously, the music and score were great, the choreography and orchestra were excellent BUT I COULD HARDLY HEAR A WORD BEING SUNG and I was on the front row of the balcony!!! Certainly worth seeing and I wish it success when it moves to the Young Vic. Will look forward to reading the critics and other peoples re-actions.

It doesn't need to last. I don't think they are doing more than 10 performances between Watford, London and Buxton. It's a wonderful work. Book now if you haven't.

Billington complains the singers are slightly drowned by the orchestra, but gives it 4 stars.

Has anyone seen this at the Young Vic?

I have!

Last night’s performance was amazing. I was totally hooked.

I had no issues with the sound at all. Spoiler … The chorus are located in the top balcony so the effect for The Woman is upstairs is wonderful. Almost heavenly! … End of Spoiler.

John Fuljames has created a quite a traditional production (for a change) and it works brilliantly. The whole cast are amazing so I don’t want to pick names out BUT Elena Ferrari is astounding especially in her big number.

Last night was sold out and the returns queue was huge. Try and make the final performance tonight I don’t think you will be disappointed.

I really hope so as I would like to see it again. As intimated before, seeing it at Watford I thought the whole production, choregraphy and orchestra were excellent. BUT totally inaudible. We could hardly hear or understand a word being sung. Was this the acoustics at Watford Palace? According to reports the critics and discussion board comments which were mostly favourable did not find this so at the Young Vic.
