Does anyone know if there are plans for a London Cast Recording for Jersey Boys?

I am fed up of being encouraged to buy Cast CD's from the Broadway shows when I really want a London Cast recording & I am sure that I am not alone in being angry about this!!!

The four guys who play the Four Seasons are amazing - it would be a real insult to their talents if the Company don't decide to record a CD. In my opinion Ryan Molloy has a far better voice than the guy on the Broadway cd!!

The show will obviously sell for a long time - there are no decent seats to be had for months!! A London Cast album would be a winner & I am sure all the people who have been "conned" into buying the CD at Jersey Boys only to find it isn't the London cast - will shell out again for another CD if its the london cast!!!

Who else agrees?

Absolutely agree! When my Mum and I went to see it Mum couldn't decide whether to buy the cast recording or the original Four Seasons CD, she decided on the Four Seasons themselves and we didn't realise until recently that had she bought the cast recording it would have been the Broadway cast! Thank goodness she made the right choice. I would be first in line for the London Cast Recording though!!!

I think we have seen the end of London Cast Recordings for the vast majority of shows that open elsewhere

Unfortunately the costs are just prohibitive and producers have to wait too long for returns.

London recordings! Still waiting for a London Wicked Cast one!
I wish they would record Kerry but I don't think it's likely...

IF Hairspray or Wicked's not getting one... I can't see any of the other shows getting one! I think they should just recording all the tracks that Hannah Waddingham sings in Spamalot tongue.gif

I don't understand why they don't just record these shows from the sound desk and release them through eMusic/Nokia Music or that crap one from Apple. Surely it wouldn't cost a lot to record and distribute through digital means. That way we could probably get a recording of every cast when it changes, well I can hope anyhow!

I think there's enough petitions for the Hairspray recording... or even the Wicked one... still.... nothing!

It's not the cost of the process itself that's the problem. It's arranging contractual terms with all those involved in the performance and agreeing royalties with the owners of the rights that makes it not worth the effort for many shows. Given a choice between (a) spending weeks chasing people up to arrange contracts that leave everyone satisfied or (b) ordering up another batch of existing CDs from the warehouse, which would you do?
In my opinion anyone interested in improving himself should not rule out becoming pure energy.
