Jersey Boys - Ryan Molloy Mimes! Rate Topic: -----

I saw the show last night with a friend and noticed that Ryan Molloy mimes quite a few times. At times it was really obvious as you can hear all those high notes while he doesn't even bother to open his mouth. We were sitting in row D in Stalls and people around us noticed it as well.

I know it's a vocally demanding role, but he's only doing 6 performances a week and tickets cost £60. It's outrageous that he's allowed to mime but even worst when you can hear his pre-recorded voice while his mouth doesn't move.

Heven't seen the show yet so will reseve judgement as to whether what you say is correct but your use of the word allowed as in 'allowed to mime' somehow implies that the performer has made the decision. It doesn't work like that.

Are you sure? Cuz you can sing thru ur teeth (like Ruthie) as well and might look like you're not singing... I hope he's not miming tho! But most of all, I hope he's ok! He's such a great talent, I hope he doesnt loose his voice after this show just like JLY!

I'm afraid you're wrong here. There is NO miming in this show. I work on it, so I should know. Ryan is an exceptional singer and sings everything live making it look effortless!

I take it you've never seen Ryan perform before. He is an incredible singer and his rangle is one of the highest and widest I've ever seen. His role as the transsexual in Jerry Springer The Opera says it all.

He can sing really high without opening his mouth much says one thing... he's that damn good!

I hope you can see the show in a different light now... it is a phenomenal cast at the Prince Edward.

For what it's worth, my flatmate works at the Prince Edward and he told me that although Ryan Molloy doesn't mime an entire song the are many pre-recorded click tracks to help him reach the high notes.

I saw Ryan perform twice in JB and once in Jerry Springer. HIs first 3 songs in JB just melted me really! He's probably the best sung Frankie there's been ~

There are no click tracks used on Jersey Boys, so your "in the know" ice cream seller is talking out of his chocolate tubs.
