I enjoyed this but a DVD of staged opera can only be a disappointment surely?

Certainly nothing can compare to being at a "live" performance.

It was shown on TV at Christmas. It was still pretty good but, inevitably, not quite the glorious treat it was live!

How true.
Is it better to keep the memory of attending that fine performance in my head rather than buy the DVD I wonder.

It's a pretty good souvenire of the performance and is likely to be the version of choice for quite a time (what a pity the Sutherland/Pavarotti partnership was never recorded visually!). so it really depends on whether you need a reminder of one of opera's great evenings. Perhaps you could wait until thememories become a bit hazy! rolleyes.gif
