Can you help?

i need a piece to show off my talents. either a one-woman show or a 2 or 3 hander. i am a quirky actress. my training is in musical theatre so i can sing too and hoped that there would somehow be something out there that could help me show it all off??

The maids by Jean Genet - a brilliant play with fantastic parts for 3 women. You wouldn't get to sing though!

Try Bombshells by Joanna Murray-Smith for a character-driven, sparkling showcase of a one woman show with singing opportunities if u want them.

Snake in the Grass by Ayckbourn is for just three women, and has a tremendous gamut of character moments. A bit of a melodramatic play with too many reversals but having directed it and having scared the audience it does work. No singing though.

Two For The Seesaw by William Gibson is a great 2-hander, that was made into a film with Robert Mitchum and Shirley Maclaine, and later the musical Seesaw. It is about time it had a revival.

The 2-hander show I Do, I Do, with music by Harvey Schmidlt, was a musical version of the 2-hander play The Fourposter.

For monologues you could try some of the Alan Bennett plays from his Talking Heads series.

I didn't get to see David Hare's The Breath Of Life with Maggie Smith and Judi Dench, but I seem to remember reading that it had a cast of just the two of them.

yes breath of life was a two hander

there is also albee's three tall women which as the name suggests is three female parts - its three actresses playing the same woman at different points in her life - early 30's (samantha bond), middle aged (frances de la tour) and dying (maggie smith)

what about david hare's skylight which is three hander - 2m 1f

tell me on a sunday - solo piece which allows you to act and sing

tick tick boom - 2m 1f
