11th January 2009? That's over 7 months between the series finishing on TV and the show opening - seems a very long time.

I hope those who announced their attention of boycotting the show if a non-white Nancy is cast are equally outraged at the casting of a non-Jewish Fagin.

Reading the report as reported on whatsonstage.com it certainly seems like Cam Mack is putting some money into the production and not just plonking a touring set on the vast stage and hoping for the best. Good for him!!

Also - Rowan Atkinson. I look forward to seeing his take on Fagin!

I'm shocked it's not opening sooner.

I'd Do Anything finishes last week in May. A gap of over 6 months. The public would have forgotten which Nancy they've 'cast' by the time it hits the stage.

It seem all the stranger with LOTR closing in July. That only leaves about a 3 month gap with get out of LOTR and Oliver get in and rehearsal/previews, what could fill it?

I did here a few months ago about Miss Saigon doing a small stint back in Drury Lane not sure if this true of not.
