I'm assuming there are no plans to bring this show to London, but I think it would be a really great idea. Something new and fresh amongst all the Jukebox musicals that are running at the moment.

There were some rumours a while back about a possible run at the National Theatre this Autumn, but that's all I believe they were unfortunately. I saw the opening night of the US Tour in San Francisco back in 2006, and it is a wonderful show.

Id love this to be done in Britain. It's a lovely score. Maybe the National will pick it up for another year or one of the Opera companies may have a go. Opera North have a fondness for production lesser known musicals.
I won't be called a baggage!

This is why the closure of the Bridewell as a professional theatre was such a tragedy

Adam Guettel was on a TV program here in the US a couple of months ago. He said it now appeared the National wasn't interested in mounting it . It's a pity because the Olivier would be ideal, being very similar in configuration to the Beaumont in New York where it worked so successfully. Guettel was hopeful that an English production would happen however but gave no details. Maybe one of the opera companies will pick it up. The US tour was well-reviewed by the critics but it wasn't a huge success financially so I suspect commercial producers are a little shy of picking it up. I think this show would have lost something on a stage as small as the old Bridewell's.
