According to Playbill.com Peter Davison is off and from 3rd March the new lead of Spamalot is Alan Dale - long dead of Jim Robinson in Neighbour and 'star' of Ugly Betty (wouldnt know as Ive never watched it!)

Why can't they get the casting right on this? I suspect it's because they don't want to pay for a proper star. They had two great King Arthurs and they've let the standard drop disgracefully.

Maybe the money wasn't any different at all in which case someone needs their head examining for who they've hired. They've spent pittance on the supporting cast who wouldn't know a joke if it hit them over the head so the bulk of the comedy rests on Arthur's shoulders. Get that part miscast and it's awful. Someone sort it out.

I did like Hannah Waddingham, though.

No amount of stunt casting will get me back to see this. I did enjoy my first slurp of Spamalot but I would find the humour unbearable a second time around.

I think Jim From Neighbours could be quite good as King Arthur! Very different from Tim Curry, but still very good!

Tim Curry was awesome as King Arthur didn't see SRB so can't comment on him, but Peter Davison was pitiful. I was in the front row cringing when he sang. Alan Dale can't be worse. I always liked him in Neighbours and have enjoyed Ugly Betty let's just hope he can sing! rolleyes.gif
