Has anyone seen the new Lady of the Lake yet? For my money, Hannah Waddingham is one of the finest performers on the West End stage, and she'll doubtless prove a very hard act to follow in this role. Love to hear your thoughts...

If Marin Mazzie is taking over, you won't be disappointed. She has a wonderful voice and an amazing personality on stage.

Thanks,

I saw Marin on Monday (her first night!)... She was great. It was the first time I saw the show so I can't make any comparisons. And it was also the first time I saw Marin (as I had seen "Kiss me Kate" with Rachel York and judging from Marin's recording on the CD of "Kiss me Kate" I believed that Rachel was far better). But on Monday I was really impressed by Marin and now I say that I am a fan of hers! Indeed her personality is captivating!

I read that she will stay until the end of February. Do go and see her!!

I saw Spamalot on Tuesday night and was quite disappointed with Marin Mazzie. I thought she was great in Kiss Me Kate, but she seemed to lack the power of Hanah Waddingham or Sara Ramirez. She was very funny and obviously enjoying herself, I just thought she would have sounded stronger and had more belting power.

The rest of the cast were shockingly bad though, with the exception of the guy playing Patsy.

She doesn't have belting power in all ranges admittedly but her voice is rich and intersting and she just brings SO much more to the role than Sara Ramirez or Hannah W.

I thought Hannah and Sara were both fantastic as the Lady of the Lake. I think Peter Davison is appalling as King Arthur (he can't sing) and I hope Hannah has a wonderful time in New York.

  • Interests:I go to the theatre to be stimulated, moved and challenged. Sometimes I get all three and occasionally I get my mind jolted as well. Particular thanks to Messrs Chekhov, Ibsen and Sondheim. <br />

I saw Hannah in what must have been one of her last performances and thought it was one of those rare occasions when the performer manages to be better than the material they are given. I'd agree that Peter Davison is banal but so is the whole show (I've posted a User Review)

Marin Mazzie is breathtaking on the CD of Ragtime and I hope she has a good time in London, but I would rather see her in a better show than this.
