Having seen the new version of Rent, I do prefer the original. The score is still very good, but whether it be the original cast or current cast, I thought the original was outstanding the the music should not be messed about with. I thought Jessie Wallace was an excellent Maureen, and did very well with the 'mooing' song, which is usually quite dire. The new punk type 'Angel' was funny, but I preferred the original. Mimi was awful!!! Such a disappointment! It was done differently to the original and the actress was not convincing, did not look how I expected and did not move me in any way.

Having posted the above, I will say that if you have not seen the original, you will not be disappointed!

Hi there,

Just wondered if anyone can help. I am going to see Rent Remixed on Friday evening, the 8:30pm performance. I just wondered does anyone know what time this should finish? It's just I am meeting friends after and would like to give an estimate time to meet lol!

Many thanks!

I saw last Wednesday's matinee and loved the show; i've not seen the original so maybe not having anything to copmare it with didn't taint my views. I thought the cast were enthusiastic and Jaye Webb as Angel was stunning (in more ways then one).
Jonathan Larson in his notes in the programme explains that the world now is a different place to when Rent first opened and he has tried to account for this and make it more relevant to today. I think this production deserved to have lasted longer then it did in the West End. It certainly got a good reception from the audience last week.
It's also a shame there was no cast recording as i loved some of the new remixed songs.

Well it would be a different place for him since Rent first started. Darker, for one thing, and with many more maggots.
In my opinion anyone interested in improving himself should not rule out becoming pure energy.
