Yes indeed. Am going tonight. Very excited. Went to the opening night in Bristol and to the last night of the first cast in London but haven't seen it since, and not therefore seen the various changes they've made. Excited. Last nights are always great. Hope you enjoy too! Bx

I saw the show at the matinee, loved it all over again, havent seen it since the OLC.
Does anyone know who played the children at the matinee? I have it down to two out of the boys and two out of the girls, however in both cases they look very similar! Any ideas?

The kids were Sophie Worsley and Tyler Fagan for the matinee. smile.gif

Thanks! I thought Jane was Sophie Worsley but the lady next to me thought it was Maddy Alison. Michael was between Tyler and Laurence. Thanks for the info!

I was there last night. I thought it was brilliant that they took the time to do something to mark the occasion with the ushers revealing the glow sticks as Mary flew past each of them (at least they've never done that the other 4 times I've seen it so I assume it was a final night special). I had a great seat in the upper circle side that's supposed to be severely restricted view but I could see everything, and the glow sticks went right up to the upper circle.

Great show with what was clearly an audience of fans judging from the louder and longer applause especially every time Mary or Bert sung. Slightly rambling but nice and emotional speech from Bert at the end. And really nice that they brought all the children out at the curtain call.

Only thing that spoilt it was some woman in the upper circle being unnecessarily aggressive to the staff because they'd told the husband he couldn't bring glass from the bar into the auditorium.

Was surprised to see the Paul Mathew trucks parked down the side of the theatre before the show even started, I guess they were there so early so as to make sure they got the spaces at the stage door before dodgycabs did, but even so it made it all the more sad to see that it was going to be pulled out so quickly. Made it seem just like the provincial tours where it's common to see the tour trucks parked outside on the last night.

Well you were half right anyway because Laurence was on in the evening

And in answer to ianianian's review, agree with you about the trucks it was so sad! My friend walked past the foyer last night and they were already taking the boards and everything Mary Poppins-like down!

I had such a ball last night! I'd managed to book seats at the last minute a week ago and was lucky enough to get row D in the stalls - my closest seat ever and I've seen it quite a few times. The whole cast was giving it 200%. I seem to find new favourite moments every time I see it...but last night's second half seemed to have so much energy, from Miss Andrew's arrival and exit to Step in Time, which I was desperate for them to do again. Scarlet seemed very emotional for her last few scenes but managed to hold it together. She has been such a wonderful Mary Poppins - I especially love it when she gets rid of Miss Andrew. There were a lot of tears at the curtain call and Gavin had to take a moment before he could get his words out in his speech. (I was glad Gavin spoke because my friend refused to believe he was American as his British accent was so good!) Nice that they brought all the stage crew on - they really all did seem like a family. During the show the side aisles were packed with ushers and others getting a last glimpse of the show.
Awful to see the trucks outside afterwards, but at least MP does have a life after it's run in London. I'm tempted to go out to the tour, but I feel like last night's show will be pretty hard to beat.

Yes. A very good evening and still a terrific show. I hadn't seen it since they'd made all the changes a year or two ago and so it was interesting to see those, and in all but one case very effective. The only exception was Anything Can Happen- the loss of the ladders and the new choreography was much less spectacular than it was originally. All the other changes, especially Jolly Holiday, were great improvements though. I thought Summer Strallen was very good but no Laura-Michelle, likewise Gavin Creel, but Rebecca Thornhill terrific and Louise Gold possibly even better than Rosie Ashe- not a sentence I'd ever expect to write! I'm afraid I really disliked Aiden Gillett, whose performance I found wooden, unfunny, quiet and poorly sung. But it remains a terrific night at the theatre and I think it's a great shame it's ending. Great final reaction though. Hope everyone else enjoyed it as much.

I hope you meant Scarlett Strallen, unless I was at another Mary Poppins show? wink.gif Agree with you about the changes in Anything Can happen, I really miss the ladders and I'm not particularly keen on the umbrella Mary and the kids stand on.
