Glad to see the curtain's coming down on the awful RENT Remixed. I think William Baker should stick to what he does best, staging Kylie concerts (not that I've ever seen a Kylie concert but he knows how to ruin a great musical).

On the one hand - it's closing proves that this idea DIDN'T work.

On the other hand - I feel very much for the fantastic cast and crew who put everything into this show. It's not nice to find out you'll be out of a job esp over the Xmas period... I hope they find new work soon.

At least they're getting a lengthy period of notice so they have a chance to prepare and look for other work. Six and a half weeks is far more notice than most people get. I've known of some situations where people have gone to work as usual and gone home unemployed.
In my opinion anyone interested in improving himself should not rule out becoming pure energy.

Exactly. Even if they did get shorter notice that's is sometimes common to this business, we all know the uncertainties when we 'sign up' for it!!! Still, that is little different to any failing business where staff get waylaid and it is better to close a show that is dying a spectacular death rather than just keep it going purely to keep people employed.

Considering the poor reviews and general naegativity surrounding this production I think it's done well to sustain the run it has, and yeah, good on the producers for giving a reasonable notice period.

I think you'll find it is closing to make way for another show which has to be fitted into an ATG Theatre. The reaction to Jessie Wallace could be enough to make them have to find another theatre for the show to transfer to. Also the show will do amazingly well if it tours especially as there may be more open minded individuals watching than those who post on here who seem to opposed to anything changing from an original show which had so many floors and would never have worked in its original form in London. Hope you all enjoy the same shows the same way you like them and continually post about how its supposed to be, must be lovely to live in such a small world where it appears very few of you actually work hence the jealousy but love to comment on.

I doubt it would do well on a tour. On the last tour it had attendances that were VERY low across the country. I would be very surprised if a tour of this poor production would encourage people to see it. If it were that good a produiction, it would have at least have got bums on seats in London. (Plenty of other shows manage it in London!)

What I don't like is this "I TOLD YOU SO" sort of attitude.

It's closing. Okay... well congrats for someone attempting to do something different. Something that wasn't a pop band, film script or ALW revival.

Sure, okay, it didn't work. Some people loved it - alot of people hated it with a passion... but that's theatre. I don't think all this "Glad to see it's closing" does anyone any favours. Why are you glad? If you don't like it I'm sure after the first time you didn't go back. I'm sure it's not doing you any personal harm. And actually a fair few people really like it. I'm not one of those people...but I know people who did.
