saw the matinee yesterday, and thought that whilst this was slightly dated, it was good fun and the cast were on cracking form - especially lia williams, and jane horrocks who was just an absolute treat. she is going to age and become one of those actresses who is a national treasure. if there was a weak link in the cast i would have to say it was jenny seagrove, who played as she always does jenny seagrove

the props person must have had a good trawl around car boot sales and second hand shops to find all of the 1970's kitchen ware and furniture!

Saw this tonight and sorry to say was sadly disappointed. Jane Horrock's performance was over the top and was playing for laughs; I just couldn't believe in the character at all. Director Alan Strachan should have exercised more control. Jenny Seagrove on the other hand at least brought some emotional truth to the role. Understudy in for JG Sinclair - no problem with that per se but some uncertainty with lines slowed the pace right down. Best pair in it were David Horovitch & Lia Williams; their duologue at the start of Act 3 was truthfully funny. As for the 70s props pretty accurate I would say - though, sorry, crisps did not come in those sort of bags and is it really likely that all three households drank exactly the same brand of whisky? Very fond memories of the original London prouction were sadly not enhanced tonight.
