Fantastic performance, would sit through the whole thing again.

Outstanding performances from all the actors, gripping from beginning to the end.

A well deserved standing ovation.

I saw it in Edinburgh; absolutley brilliant. Saw both on the same day (the best way to do it).

The standing ovation is traditional for these plays whether it is deserved or not - there was also one every night for a quite weak RSC touring production of it.

Well, you can't blame the audience for wanting to stretch their legs!

Ah. You mean a fleeing ovation rather than a standing one.
In my opinion anyone interested in improving himself should not rule out becoming pure energy.

I saw it in Wimbledon and thought it was rubbish aside from a few excellent performances. But then again I did see the original RSC production in Newcastle in 1986. They've chopped a couple of hours off the running time, erasng several great scenes and making the whole plot rushed. Its lost lots of emotion and of course that wonderful set has gone too. If you don't beleve me, buy the DVD of the original play and compare!!

I think quite a few people would be annoyed to hear you deride regional theatre.
In addition, do you realise that the RSC is located 'north of london'?
