I was just watching the opening night video of the Broadway Grease on broadway.com, and suddenly thought, how come David Ian spent money on a brand new Broadway production of Grease (ie set) yet, kept the same set for the west end show that we have seen for about 13yrs (correct me if wrong). I just don't get why Broadway gets the new production and we in england get the touring production. dry.gif

Just wanted to get that off my chest.

Well, by all accounts the new production there is just as lifeless and cheap as the old one over here...so there's no point getting annoyed. Hehe smile.gif
He used to call me — Blue Roses.

Broadway got a new show???? HOW RUUUUUUUUUUDE! I saw Grease the other week and it totally sucked - well Sandy and Danny were ok - but it just looked like a cheap, rehashed, did I saw CHEAPer version of the Craig McLachlan one. Greased Lightning was laughable...boooooooooooooooooooo

Yes, by all accounts, the Broadway production is poorly designed, directed and choreographed. Another similarity between the productions seems to be the age of the ensemble... why does Grease so often have cast members who look old enough to be the characters' parents?

I think the bigger question is why do we HAVE Grease in the Westend replacing Guys & Dolls??? For God's sake... it's not that great a musical and if you want to watch it and put in the goddamn DVD! Watching it live just makes you hate the whole thing! At least in the film you have Olivia Newton John!
