Made my final trip to Hairspray tonight. Truly excellent performance from entire cast. Brilliant! How this is closing and Grease still continues on is beyond me but hey ho.
Anyone else making a visit before it closes??

I'm going to the closing but in cheap seats as it's not my favourite show but It's not one I'd like to miss
Pity the child with no such weapons
No defence, no escape from the ties that bind

I managed to get a ticket for the final performance, although it was very tough! I'd already booked to see the show two weeks after in Cardiff too! Never mind...

I cannot believe that Hairspray is closing... I shall be making my final 2 visits to Baltimore EVER... this weekend as I will not be going on tour!
I love Hairspray and I cannot believe that it is closing - this current cast is excellent - so much life and energy....
Sunday will be a true celebration of this amazing show!!

I went to the show today and it was genuinely one of the best experiences I've ever had at the theatre. When I first saw Hairspray I didn't think much of it and was a little disappointed as I'd loved the film so much. I think that this was mainly because my seats were a bit rubbish, and all of the principal characters apart from Michael Ball's Edna were understudies.
I've seen it since and loved it, but today was something else. Huge cheers for everyone from the audience, and you could see that it lifted their performance no end. Some very emotional speeches came at the end, and everybody was on their feet screaming and cheering.
I've never seen Brian Conley in the role, but will definitely be booking tickets to see him when the tour reaches Birmingham. He was hilarious, and his closing speech had me crying with laughter. What a guy. I'm seeing the show again in 2 weeks in Cardiff, which was originally a birthday present for my Mum, and I had no idea that the West End production would be closing. I booked my ticket for today as I wanted the experience of the last show, not realising my next visit to the show was only a little way away! I'm so glad I did though, because today was just excellent. I couldn't believe how much I enjoyed myself.
I must though, again, special mention for me should go to Liam Tamne as Link, he was just mesmerising. His dancing is amazing, and I hope he does something else in the West End soon. I'm definitely a fan now! Obviously all the other cast members were great too, but Liam has blown me away both times I have seen the show with him in it.
I must say, as an afterthought, I'm SO glad Belinda Carlisle didn't close the show, as Siobhan McCarthy's Velma totally showed up how average Belinda was when she played the part!
Amazing, amazing, amazing day. Loved it.
