Feel free to delete/move this if this isn't meant to go here; I couldn't find another thread on this!

Is anyone going to Sondheim's platform talk at the NT this afternoon? I queued up this morning to get a day ticket and am dead excited now.

Anyone know if there's the remotest chance of meeting the man himself to get stuff signed before or afterwards?

It was excellent, queuing in the morning was certainly worth it! Quite a few recognisable people in the audience; David Babani was sitting near me. I couldn't believe it was over when Jeremy Sams announced that time was up, it felt like Sondheim had only been talking for 5 minutes! I could have easily listened to him talk all evening. A very charming man...not sure I could say the same about Lord Lloyd-Webber who seemed extremely flustered when I bumped into him a few days ago!

Completely agree with the time flying...They should have done this in a two hour slot cos I wanted to hear so many more of his stories...And a Follies film in the pipeline WOW and the Into the Woods reading for the film. The Cast in that would have been soooooo funny ha ha glad it didn't happen. A lovely man. Lets hope the National do one of his shows. I couldn't help thinking about Into the Woods on the Olivier but doubt that's likely what with the Landor production and Regents Park...Looks like, if rumours are to be belived (AND THIS WASN'T AT THE TALK) that it will be Follies with Trevor Nunn.

he generally doesn't 'sign' because so called fans put it on ebay - i've never got the sigining / stage door obessession - are you a 5 year old?! can't you just enjoy him for what he is

Anway - no plans to bring Road Show to London :-( but he is interested in writing another two shows, one with James Lapine. And he has written a new song for Sondheim on Sondheim at Studion 54

All splendid stuff

Charming. Believe it or not I'm not a five year old. And yes, thanks, I did just enjoy him for what he is and headed off straight afterwards. My sincere apologies for just wondering.

Why the need to ask or in the worse case harass stars for signatures? This can be very complimentary but also a pain in the ass when you just want to get on and live your life. And don’t forget SJS now refuses to sign due to Ebay …

If Stars want you to sign things then they will organise a signing or post selected items to you upon request

Er, hence why I asked if a signing was part of the platform. It wasn't, and therefore I didn't go and seek out SJS and got on with my life. I don't see what your problem is but obviously we've hit a nerve. I don't even understand the point to this argument, so I'll leave you to carry on your whinging here.

I would not like to read more whinging or bickering on this thread, but would love to read more about this platform, which sounds very interesting.

Otherwise, I'll find a transcript and leave you folks to it.
