Our theatre is a receiving house on the outskirts of London comprising of a 600 seat auditorium, meeting rooms and other public spaces.
We are looking to appoint a multi-skilled Technician to support the department in its smooth running and busy turn around between shows. The product varies from week long Drama to Rock'n'Roll, Children's Entertainment to Dance. The position will cover lighting and sound engineering for live events, some administrative duties and equipment maintenance. This varied role will be physically demanding at times and will include working evenings and weekends.
Job Description
Main Duties:
To stage manage, deputy stage manage or stage crew for a wide variety of productions. To
include get ins, fit ups and get outs.
To advise and assist companies on production matters
Prepare and operate lighting, sound and stage equipment to the requirements of resident or visiting companies for shows and events
To maintain stage, lighting, sound and other equipment as required. Including fault diagnosis and repair and PAT testing etc.
To act, when required, as Duty Fire Officer during performances ensuring the safety of Performers, staff and patrons
Prepare films and adverts for public presentation. Operate 35mm projection equipment.
General building maintenance of the venue, to include (but not restricted to) lamp rounds, fire checks, general painting etc.
Ensure that Health and Safety regulations and practices are adhered to at all times and to maintain good housekeeping practices.
To meet sub-contractors and ensure a satisfactory quality of work and there compliance with our Health and Safety policy and legal requirements.
Set up function rooms, furniture and AV equipment as required.
To undertake some administrative tasks including record keeping of maintenance work and stock checks.
To be a designated key holder and to undertake and ensure the safety and security of the building as required.
To be courteous and polite at all times to staff and visiting companies

Technical Knowledge and experience
Essential:
Experience of Stage management, lighting and sound engineering on a wide range of productions.
Experience of working in the technical department of a receiving house.
Knowledge and experience of maintaining and repairing equipment.
Able to respond to varying workload.
To be physically fit and able to cope with the physical demands of the work.
Desirable:
Relevant qualification.
Understanding of Health and Safety regulations.
Experience of 35mm cinema projection.
Experience of set design, construction and prop making.
Personal Qualities
Essential:
Able to manage tasks and time efficiently
Willing to learn new skills and undertake training
Be able to work effectively both within a team and under your own initiative
Desirable:
Well organised and able to keep clear and accurate records
