The Last Five Years is an intimate and evocative musical about a five-year relationship between Jamie, a rising novelist, and Cathy, a struggling actress.
As Cathy travels backwards in time, beginning her story at the end of the marriage, Jamie travels forwards, starting just after the couple have first met.
Set in New York and inspired by Brown’s own failed marriage, The Last Five Years is a witty, touching, stirring and uplifting portrayal of two young artists struggling to reconcile their ambitions with their relationship.
Written by Tony Award winning composer Jason Robert Brown, this production is a student-led collaboration between the Music, Technical Theatre and Acting departments at the Guildhall School.
The Last Five Years is presented by arrangement with Joseph Weinberger Ltd on behalf of Music Theatre International of New York.
