Hi,

Just wondering if anyone has seen this? It got 5 Guardian Stars so I've booked it for new year's eve. Never been to Hackney Empire before so I have no idea what to expect... but I know that Clive Rowe should be fantastic!

Haven't seen this year's panto at the Hackney Empire yet - have tickets for January. But we have been every year for the last five years or so and it is never been anything less than a fantastic outing. Even the year when Clive Rowe was missing from the cast (he was appearing at the National) was great but of course he is worth the price of admission alone (heard him singing an excerpt from Bernstein's Mass recently at the Festival Hall - real goose bump moment). My kids always look forward to the trip but so do all the adults involved (aged mid 40s to mid 70s). The audience is half the fun - really varied and really get involved in everything. Enjoy!

How was it Ben - their "once on this island" in the summer with Sharon D Clarke was totally enchanting.

Beautiful underused theatre and well worth the trip to see a show.

Went earlier this week and you'll be hard pressed to find a more alive cast AND audience. It's also clear that there is minimal budget but it still has spectacular moments and great performances. Everything about this show demonstrates the CARE behind it, decent and funny script which reflects the community and the fact there's a band and great effects and illusions. Hope the Empire thrives after it's hiatus
