Saw Les Mis again on Sat.7th Nov. matinee and was so lucky to see Jonathan Williams as JVJ he was brilliant and can't understand why he is only first cover, he should be doing it all the time, and soooooo good looking!!
Also saw Sophie Josslyn as Madame T (second cover) she was brilliant. An amazing voice and very, very funny. We need to see more of her. What a very talented cast they are.

Les Mis must have one of the strongest understudy squads (and I mean first and second understudy) in the West End. Some of them are evidently better than the principals, so it's always nice to see them on stage every once in a while, some are just as strong or highlight other factes of the character, some are rightly understudies (sometimes due to a exceptionally strong principal) but they're still good and no one is downright disappointing. What an ensemble...!

I agree. I've been lucky enough to see some of the understudies (Helen Owen, Rachel Bingham, Jonathan Williams, Greg Castiglioni, Nathalie Day, Mark Dugdale) and all of them were very good. And some I even prefer to the first cast, though I actually don't know why. Maybe it's the difference in their portrayal that makes me understand/like the character more.

Saw Sophie Josslyn play Fantine on Sat 20th Nov, she was brilliant. So versatile, has anybody else understudied and played both roles at the same time? I don't think so!!
