I went to see WWRY in Edinburgh last night and had such fab night out! I don't think I've ever seen such an energetic, enthusiastic cast before! They were all outstanding and I just can't think of anything negative to say about them.
Sarah French-Ellis was perfect as Scaramouche, her comic timing was brilliant and the audience really seemed to warm to her. Her rendition of 'Somebody to Love' was perfection, what a belt! She had great chemistry with the actor playing Galileo (not 100% sure that it was Alex Gaumond) I really felt like they were in love. He has an amazing singing voice and made a very believeable Galileo.
Brenda Edwards surprised me as Killer Queen as I'd read quite a few bad reviews about her. I thought she got the right balance between playing the villan but also being very funny. Her 'Another one Bites the Dust' was outstanding, what a voice!
Darren Day also surprised me, I hadn't realised what a brilliant actor he is!
I loved Wayne Robinson as Brit, very funny and loved the accent. Shame he gets killed off before the second act!
Rachel John (understudy) was on as Meat. She also has an amazing voice and nearly had me in tears with 'Only the Good Die Young.' Great chemistry with Wayne but am interested to see what Georgina Hagen is like as really can't imagine her as Meat- strikes me as a bit too young and vulnerable for Meat.
'I want it all' was one of my favourite performances, great set and they really got the audience going.
Kevin Kennedy was good as Pop but not too keen on his singing voice, average compared to the other performers. Then again I'm not sure if Pop is supposed to be a great singer!
As I said before, the ensemble were outstanding and had so much energy, I don't know how they keep it up night after night!

Just one question, does anyone know if Ashley Russell was on last night? as I couldn't spot her, unless she looks totally different with her wig on!

Sorry for the essay but just felt I had to commment on such a fantastic cast. Thank you for a brilliant night out! smile.gif

I forgot to add that the audience loved the fact Scaramouche was wearing Scotland pants when she does the 'fandango' at the end! do they always make a joke of this or was it just for Scotland? unsure.gif

Sarah French Ellis and Ashley Russell were off last night.
Galileo is now played by Michael Falzon as Alex has left to do 'Legally Blonde' and last night was the debut of the scottish pants

Thanks for that! so was it Amy Hathaway as Scaramouche then? I thought it looked like Sarah French-Ellis! must get my eyes checked smile.gif I feel awful now for praising Sarah in my review! unsure.gif apologies to Amy if it was her, she was fantastic! I didn't think it was Ashley as the teacher!
I thought it might have been the debut of the Scottish pants but just wondered if they normally use England ones or if they don't bother with that joke at all.

really? where did you hear that from?
I have been to the show three times now twice in Bristol and once in Birmingham and have never experienced a negative reaction for either from the crowd.
And yes Amy Hathaway is fantastic smile.gif brought the house down the two times I have seen her, I don't understand why she isn't in the West End she is amazing.
