Dreamboats & Petticoats sails out of West End on 4 Aug
The show, which is based around Fifties and Sixties hits from the album series of the same name, has been a West End fixture since 2009.
Dreamboats and Petticoats opened at the Playhouse on 6 January 2010, following a three-month run from July to October 2009 at the Savoy Theatre. It features songs from Roy Orbison, The Everly Brothers, Neil Sedaka, Eddie Cochran, Dion and Del Shannon, among others.
The action is set in 1961, as young musicians Norman and Bobby compete to win the hearts of their adoring female fans – and more importantly, the gorgeous Sue. But when shy Laura shows that she’s no slouch on the piano, rock ‘n’ roll fame beckons.
Produced by Bill Kenwright and Laurie Mansfield, the stage musical is directed by Bob Tomson and designed by Sean Cavanagh, with choreography by Carole Todd. The national tour continues this week at the New Victoria Theatre in Woking.
West End cast member Susannah Allman tweeted on Friday, "The Dreamboat has officially sunk".
