Very Like a Whale

About the Show

A company of actors and backstage crew gather together for the first day of rehearsals. The play is Hamlet, Prince of Denmark. Expectations are high. The director is passionate, persuasive and idiosyncratic. Will the show go on? Very Like a Whale examines the rehearsal room and contemplates the text of Hamlet, the blur between actors and characters’ lives, the practices that push boundaries and the ones that claim to protect them. Very Like a Whale celebrates the magic of theatre, with ghosts and gravediggers, music and moonlight, vanities, calamities, awkward and shocking realities.

A unique experiment from this acclaimed theatre hub, led in a collaboration by two unruly directors.
