About This Show

The Joe Downard Ensemble is one of London’s foremost jazz groups. They first met at Ronnie Scott’s, where they have been performing and curating events for the last five years.

Joe Downard himself honed his craft playing lead bass for the National Youth Jazz Orchestra (NYJO), where he earned a reputation as one of London’s finest young jazz players. NYJO has seen him perform at the BBC with Elaine Page, as well as introducing him to some of the finest jazz talent in the country. Joe went on to receive a doctorate in jazz harmony from The Royal College of Music. Joe has joined Marti Pellow on a nationwide tour of the UK performing in some of the country’s most famous venues. In London his ensemble has continued to play regularly at Ronnie Scott’s, as well as other notable London venues including Jazz Cafe, 606, KOKO and now Wembley Park Theatre…
