Following the hugely successful production of ‘The Addams Family’ last year, Surbiton High School are, again, returning to The New Wimbledon Theatre to perform the iconic musical West Side Story.
This timeless tale of love and rivalry brings Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet to the streets of 1950s New York. Amid the tension between two street gangs the Jets and the Sharks, young lovers Tony and Maria find each other and dream of a life together, away from the violence that surrounds them.
But as their secret romance grows, so does the conflict between their families and friends, leading to a powerful and heart-breaking finale.
With Leonard Bernstein’s unforgettable score and Stephen Sondheim’s razor-sharp lyrics, this production promises soaring music, thrilling dance, and a story that will stay with you long after the curtain falls.
