C’est La Vie Sarah Bernhardt and Me tells the story of the celebrated and pioneering 19thCentury French actress who performed all over the world, becoming the first global superstar. Her sensuality and emotion captured the hearts and imagination of British audiences from London to Edinburgh, Portsmouth to Nottingham, who thrilled to her vivid ‘Frenchness’.
This hour long mixed media theatre piece was written and is performed by Hilary Tones (who has appeared at The Globe, the RSC, many regional theatres as well as in many TV roles) which explores Sarah Bernhardt’s extraordinary life through the lens of Hilary’s own experiences as an actress – the piece employs authentic costumes and video projections to bring to life the two strands of the story – the historical and the contemporary.
