About This Show

Bad sex. Antisemitism. An unkosher friend named Hershel Fink. Ethan is a gay American Jew who moved to London to do a master’s degree in theatre. After arriving in London, Ethan soon finds that his drama school and industry are riddled with antisemitism. On top of that, he is unable to get over his ex-boyfriend. His flatmate, Phoebe, encourages him to seek therapy; however, he has other plans. Instead, Ethan creates a Golem from a plush pig in an attempt to fix his problems. What he ends up creating is unlike anything he expected- an unkosher friend named Hershel Fink. This is what happens when nice Jewish boys leave their mothers. Based on true events and including some verbatim commentary, this story is a reflection and response to the antisemitism experienced by Jewish students at drama schools around the UK and within the British theatre industry.
