It’s 1950, and with the looming threat of the Cold War a poor community on the edge of a Siberian forest find themselves cut off from civilization. Yana lives with her only living relative, her Aunt. One day she joins the other children of the village on a trip out into the snow but when she doesn’t return to the village that evening the alarm is raised. Whilst lost in the frozen landscape, Yana has a chance encounter with another child, a child scared and alone much like herself… but a child who knows the ways of the snow.
