Scottish rock duo made up of identical twin brothers

Formed in 1983 by twin brothers Craig and Charlie Reid, The Proclaimers are a Scottish rock duo that rose to prominence in 1987 with their single ‘Letter from America’ which climbed to the No.3 spot on the UK single’s chart. A year later, the group released their smash hit follow-up ‘I’m Gonna Be (500 Miles)’ which topped the charts around the world, in countries like Australia, Iceland and New Zealand.

Blending elements from country, folk and punk rock music, the band further defined their sound by embracing their Scottish accents. Across their 12 studio albums, the band have increasingly used their music as a vehicle for political commentary.

In 2022, the band released Dentures Out alongside three compilation albums and a DVD with a string of tour dates confirmed for 2022 and 2023.
