2021 is the centenary of the birth of Franco Corelli and Giuseppe di Stefano and the death of Enrico Caruso, three great Italian tenors. Three tenors from the Jette Parker Young Artists Anniversary Company, in the year of their 20th Anniversary, pay tribute to these influential singers. Join us for a unique evening of Italian song in the Linbury Theatre, featuring rarely-performed gems by composers including Puccini, Arturo Toscanini, Catalani, Mascagni and Tosti. At the turn of the nineteenth century, tenor Enrico Caruso (1873-1921) was a global superstar, his passionate performances of Puccini and Tosti arias filling the homes and hearts of thousands thanks to the new invention of the phonograph. Inspired by his example, the ‘Prince of Tenors’ Franco Corelli (192-2003) and Giuseppe ‘Golden Voice’ di Stefano (1921-2008) rose to fame, and their legacy still inspires generations of performers and opera lovers today.
