The Lady of the Camellias

About the Show

The famous story of a Parisian courtesan, Marguerite Gautier, known as the Lady of the Camellias because of her fondness for that flower, was first given as a theatrical performance in Paris in the 1890s, starring the legendary Sarah Barnhardt.

It was famously filmed by MGM in 1936 as ‘Camille ’with Greta Garbo in the title role.

The Verdi opera ‘La Traviata’ is based on the same story.

Nimbus Theatre is proud to present this new adaptation of the romantic tale of beautiful professional seductress, Marguerite, who gives up her life of wealth and glamour for a love that ends in tragedy. Set in Paris in the 1850s the play is presented in period costume.
