With their dramatised readings of classic poetry attracting some of our leading actors (such as Charlotte Rampling, Miranda Richardson, Patrick Kennedy, and Tom Hiddleston), Dead Poets Live has established a loyal following for their memorable events. On April Fool’s Day they return to Print Room at the Coronet with a show for the young and the young-at-heart, and for anyone who claims not to understand poetry: a brief history of Nonsense. A history, in fact, as old as poetry, inseparable from our earliest attempts at sense and our instinctive delight in the sounds we make. There is no poetry purer than Nonsense ? except that it’s nonsense ? and to try to make sense of Nonsense is in a sense to introduce all poetry.
