Nikolai Lugansky

About the Show

Nikolai Lugansky makes a welcome return to the International Piano Series with a programme featuring music by two composers with very different approaches to impressionism. The first half includes the delicately sensual music of Debussy, whose Suite Bergamasque contains one of his most recognisable melodies, Clair de lune. Scriabin’s music is highly charged with exoticism, sensuality and mysticism, yet the early works we hear tonight also suggest the influences of Chopin and Beethoven.
